Hello Cougar Families and Happy Sunday,

Check out some of the action from this week’s teaching and learning at EHS!

Mr. Meyers leads students through a bio-chemistry lab, where the relevance of the learning is brought home with the statement “in the real world, the importance of doing labs like this correctly could mean the difference in a criminal trial, where an innocent person could be convicted of a crime they did not commit.”

Mr. Booth’s English class tacking some heavy concepts in the classic All Quiet on the Western Front. This kind of guided discussion really challenges our student’s ability to extemporaneously express their thoughts and ideas, and to think critically about literature.

Tailgate- 5:00 p.m.**

** Tailgate is being run differently this year.  In an effort to maximize instructional time and the safety and security of our students, we are no longer releasing students at 12:00 noon on Homecoming Friday.  Instead, we are running an assembly schedule with our traditional Peach Fuzz event to occur after the assembly.  The tailgate will not be held in the parking lot this year to allow for maximum parking spots, as we are expecting a packed house!  Our tailgate will be incorporated into our pre-game festivities, and will be held on the west end of the track, beginning at 5:00 p.m.  All students/community members wishing to attend the tailgate must pay gate admission and enter the stadium.  Finally, no outside food or drinks will be allowed in the stadium for our homecoming game.

Saturday, October 19th- Homecoming Dance in the EHS Gym, 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

We are so excited about Homecoming and hope to see all of our families there.  It's going to be a blast!

Athletics and Activities

Announcements/Highlights:

“EHS Football-  Winners on and off the Field”

Our very own EHS football team works tirelessly to prepare for the gridiron. From weight training and daily reps, team meetings, leadership training, and team dinners, our football team knows what it’s like to work hard on and off the field.  With a big win over Eagle Valley last Friday night, our football team took to the construction site. With their tool belts harnessed and their hammers raised, the football team got to work and built a house through the organization, Habitat for Humanity.  Way to go Cougars! It’s inspiring to see your convictions in action!

“Mountain Bike Team - On Their Way to the Top”

Our Mountain Biking team has hit the podium at every race this year.  With a team of almost 70, they have surpassed expectations, and over the past couple of years, become one of the top mountain bike teams in the state.  In fact, the MTB team hit the big time when they were featured in last month’s Mountain Bike Action! This publication is in the EHS library, so when you have a minute, check out this very cool two page spread. This weekend, the MTB team competed in Eagle.  Check out this link with the latest race results.
