Some photos from this week’s DECA After Dark event. 35 students and 12 volunteer judges collaborated to prepare for Jeffco’s district DECA competition, coming up on 12/3. Special thanks to program lead Bob Newkirk and fellow sponsor Dayna Sherill. For those who may not know, DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is a non-profit career and technical student organization with a mission to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. EHS is proud of our traditionally successful DECA program, with students competing every year in the national competition.

Detailed information went out to all of our 9th grade families via email last week.  Click HERE to learn more.

To read more about digital citizenship from Jeffco TechFor Ed, click HERE.  This month discusses Media Balance and Well-Being.

Due to recent changes made by Google, Jeffco is no longer able to allow students to have access to their personal accounts on district-managed Chromebooks. This letter provides additional information.

Moot Court

gavel

Moot Court is an integral part of our Government and Politics curriculum at Evergreen High School, and an intense project satisfying the College Board's Civic Connection requirement. Essentially, it is an exhaustive research assignment where student teams tackle a live constitutional question and explore the myriad of complicating elements - e.g. case law, legislation, media bias, polling, special interests etc. - objective research with a conservative or liberal argument perspective.  After a semester of intense preparation, the teams then face one another in a public adversarial debate with a faculty or administrative panel. It's really remarkable what these students are able to do!

Join us for the festivities if you're available during the week of December 9-13.  Click HERE to view the scheduled topics and their times.

Athletics and Activities

A Message from the Athletic Department

Happy Thanksgiving!  We are so thankful to have a community that supports athletics and the EHS athletic department.  Thanks to all of you that have donated your resources to ensure that Evergreen High School athletics is at the top of its game!

We are so excited to start our winter sports competition when we return from Thanksgiving break, with home openers the week of December 2nd for our boys and girls basketball teams, girls swim and dive team, and wrestling team!  Come one come all to support your Cougars!!

Weekly Highlight- Football Shout Outs!

The football program continues to build from season to season.  Offensive system was changed this year to a pass oriented offense and the results showed with record setting performances with passing yards and touchdowns.  We will continue to refine that system. The defense was hard nosed this year and continued to build over the season. Best performance of the year was in our home game against Palisade.  Entire team showed up ready to go and beat Palisade for the first time ever. Thank you to the seniors for all of their effort and hard work over the past four seasons – Phil, Adam, Jake, Cade, Cam, Jakob, Beck, Keagan, and Peyton.  If you have interest in playing next season stop in and see Oly.

Important Announcements

Coach Evaluation Survey-  After Thanksgiving break the EHS Athletic Department will be sending out an end of season coach survey to all players and parents that participated in fall sports.  We will use this data to give feedback to our coaching staff and provide opportunities to continue what is going well and improve areas where we can grow! We are excited about this 360 degree feedback opportunity.  It will only be valuable though if each and every student athlete and parent that was involved in a fall sport, fills out a survey.

Volunteerism:  Stop by and say hello to our EHS Cougar Baseball players who will be Ringing Bells for the Salvation Army this season of giving.  (11/23 @ Safeway and 12/21 @ Safeway & King Soopers)
