Strength

SOS Logo

In addition to enjoying an opportunity to learn more about the healthy activities of yoga/singing bowls/meditation in partnership with Namaste, students and staff have been surrounded by the generosity and expressed gratitude that surrounded Teacher Appreciation Week. Much thanks to all who took time and effort to reach out to staff and contributed to the positive culture that strengthens our work with students. We are mindful that when asked to name one trusted adult at EHS, students listed a total of 77 staff members, so we utilized this time to reflect on the importance of relationships and express gratitude to staff for ensuring that positive relationships are central to our school’s climate and culture. That same gratitude is directed to families for the work in building positive relationships with our young people as an important source of strength and resilience.

Please hear this as a voice of students to show appreciation to you.

You show me that I matter to you by being someone I can trust, really paying attention when we are together, making me feel known and valued, showing me you enjoy being with me, and praising me for my efforts and achievements.

You push me to keep getting better. You expect me to live up to my potential and insist that I take responsibility for my actions. You are continually there to help me learn from mistakes and setbacks.

You help me complete tasks and achieve goals. You guide me through hard situations and systems. You build my confidence to take charge of my life. You stand up for me when I need it and put limits in place that keep me on track.

You treat me with respect and give me a say. You take me seriously and treat me fairly. You involve me in decisions that affect me. You work with me to solve problems and reach goals. You create opportunities for me to take action and lead.

You connect me with people and places that broaden my world. You inspire me to see possibilities for my future. You expose me to new ideas, experiences, and places. You introduce me to people who can help me grow.
