National Honor Society Book Drive
This upcoming week NHS is hosting a book drive for the Book Depository, an organization dedicated to collecting new or used books and delivering them to elementary schools. They provide young kids with books to help them learn and engage in school. Bring in any number of books that are in good condition and appropriate for children during your lunch this week. A booth will be set up in Main Hall where NHS will be collecting them! For NHS members, you can receive hours for bringing in books. You can get one half-hour for 5 books, and can bring in a max of 10 books total. Thank you!
AP World History Exam
AP World History students, the AP test is being held during Graduation this year. If you are attending graduation and would like to take the make-up exam on May 23rd instead, you will need to inform Ms. Ardis Strieby when she comes to your World History classes THIS WEEK. She will help you register for the make-up exam. You can also email her at [email protected].
Spring Testing
APRIL 2 - 4: During study halls and free periods, Sophomores and Juniors will be completing pre-administration activities to prepare for the PSAT 10 and SAT. Our students who provide consent will also answer the student questionnaires. Students will fill out the Student Data Consent Form during the pre-administration. Information regarding this consent process was provided to you directly from the district. We have also included them in this Messenger (PSAT 9 Family Letter 2019; PSAT 10 Family Letter 2019; & SAT 11 Family Letter 2019)

APRIL 9: All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will take the PSAT 9, PSAT 10, or the SAT beginning at 7:30 am. Seniors will report to school at 8am in the auditorium for a graduation informational meeting. Busses will run as usual and lunch will be available on a very limited basis. All students testing need #2 pencils, a calculator, and juniors need their school ID.
Students testing with ACCOMMODATIONS should plan on being at school longer than their grade level peers, and will likely miss the lunch period. Please have your student speak to Mrs. Speers if they have specific questions.
APRIL 15 and 16: Juniors CMAS Science (Please read this linked letter for important testing information.) Testing is scheduled on April 15 from 7:30-9:30 am and April 16 from 7:30-8:30 am. All students will have a modified 7 period schedule on both days. Please note that students who skip these tests or are called out as sick will be expected to make up testing and may be pulled out of class to complete testing. Jeffco Virtual Academy has opened registration for the 2019-20 school year.
- Already a part-time JVA student:
- You don’t need to fill out a new application. You need to contact your JVA counselor.
- Not currently a part-time JVA student:
- You will need to apply via the application on JVA’s website www.jeffcovirtual.org. Click Admissions and New Student Enrollment.

Senior Scholarships: Each year EHS proudly recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of our graduating seniors by collecting scholarship award offer letters. Both accepted and declined. The monetary total is presented at both the Senior Academic Awards Ceremony and Graduation.
Please have your senior submit ALL scholarship award offer letters that come from a prospective school to Michelle Yeager no later than Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2:30pm. Please indicate clearly whether the offer is accepted or declined. Accepted scholarships will be printed in the Senior Academic Awards Program.
CU bound seniors! For all admitted students - Admitted Student Day will take place on Saturday, April 6th and students can find more information, and register, at https://www.colorado.edu/visit/admissions/admitted-student-day. This is the only day in which all residence halls are open to tour. Can’t make it to Admitted Student Day, attend another Be Boulder for a Day event offered on March 22nd, April 15th and April 19th
The Denver Foundation – is available to current high School Seniors. Scholarships vary in amounts. There are 2-year or 4-year Institution scholarships as well as Vocational/Technical School scholarships. Find out more at www.denverfoundation.org. New this year to the list of Foundation scholarships is the Colorado Press Association Scholarship available to students who have demonstrated commitment to the field of print and online journalism. The deadline is March 22.
The College of Architecture and Planning at the University of Colorado Denver has created a summer camp for high school students called Architecture in the City. The dates are June 3rd to the 14th. Students will get the opportunity to explore architecture and related fields in the studio environment through drawing and model building. SERVICE ACADEMY DAY in Colorado is coming up. This day is a big event for rising seniors that wish to attend any military academy and later serve as an officer in the respective branch of the military. You’ll learn about the admissions process and nomination requirements. The Service Academy Day is April 13th at 11 am at Denver South High School. Information can be found in front of College & Career.

We will be holding our auditions for performances at Graduation after we return from Spring Break. If you are hoping to perform at either Graduation or Academic Awards Night, audition forms will be available this Thursday, March 21st. They can be picked up from either Ms. Carpenter in the choir room, or Mrs. Allen in the office.

Your in it! Do you have it? The due date to pre-order yearbooks has passed and we have placed our order based on those who had already paid. We do have additional books as part of that estimate, but quantities may be limited. If you are still hoping to get a 2018-2019 yearbook, we need your order as soon as possible. Please order now, before supplies run out! Remember that all school fees need to be paid prior to receiving a yearbook. Fee payment is available thru Jeffco Connect.

LEANIN.TEAM is now offering a resiliency workshop for high school students on the 4th Thursday of every month. The primary focus will be on cultivating resilience & self-compassion, students will be engaged in important discussions surrounding these topics and will develop skills to help them through high school, college and beyond! The EHS Weekly Messenger will be featuring information and updates from the Evergreen High School Education Foundation. The EHSEF has served our school community for over a decade now, and has been instrumental in funding much of the technology that currently exists at EHS. The mission of this group, however, extends beyond technology to include the support of teacher training and tools for classroom use. Some recent examples include:
• Sending two EHS faculty members to a premier education conference in March of 2019.
• Support of the technological and curricular needs of the new-look EHS Business Program.
Without the efforts of this group, EHS would simply not be as successful as we are. Please consider financially supporting the Evergreen High School Education Foundation by donating HERE.

Spring Athletes and Parents:
The Jeffco Athletic Fee is now payable on your student’s Jeffco Connect account. Please take care of this fee as soon as possible.
Football
There will be a meeting for all returning football players this Wednesday, March 20th, at 6pm in the EHS Library. Parents, please plan on attending this meeting if your student plans to play next year!

We are looking to form a cheerleading team! We will build the team this spring and hope to have the team up and running for our fall sports season. We are in need of support as we start this new team. We are looking for a cheer coach, 8-12 cheerleaders, and booster support, mainly a booster president to start this work.
