Hello Cougar Families,

Last week, the Denver Business Journal published its Top 25 STEM High Schools in Colorado. Evergreen High School is ranked #21. We are very proud of the strides we’ve made to offer new, relevant, and engaging opportunities for our students, including Computer Science courses (for more info on the program we’ve partnered with, see the March  3rd 60 Minutes segment on Code.org) and a STEM Diploma endorsement option. Also included in this ranking are the number of students enrolled in advanced math and science courses, and the number of graduates who pursue post-secondary STEM degrees. Way to go Cougs!

Don’t forget to buy your tickets and bring the family to the Spring musical Big Fish this Thursday (7:00PM), Friday (7:00PM), or Saturday (1PM, 7PM)!

Tomorrow (3/12) we will follow our Standard Assembly Schedule. We are looking forward to lots of celebration and recognition!

Sources of Strength

Sources of Strength has given a tangible reminder of the Thankfulness Challenge that occurred last month by hanging over 1,000 cards filled out by students and staff that listed 3 items for which they are thankful. Research shows many physical and emotional health benefits associated with gratitude – even for simple, everyday things that can be recognized on a daily basis. Peer Leaders determined the top picks for which people are thankful.  The top ten were:

1.    Family

2.    Friends

3.    Teachers

4.    Food

5.    Coffee

6.    Outdoors

7.    EHS

8.    Pets

9.    Sleep

10.   Laughter

What are you thankful for today?

The EHS Weekly Messenger will be featuring information and updates from the Evergreen High School Education Foundation. The EHSEF has served our school community for over a decade now, and has been instrumental in funding much of the technology that currently exists at EHS. The mission of this group, however, extends beyond technology to include the support of teacher training and tools for classroom use. Some recent examples include:

• Sending two EHS faculty members to a premier education conference in March of 2019.
• Support of the technological and curricular needs of the new-look EHS Business Program.

Without the efforts of this group, EHS would simply not be as successful as we are. Please consider financially supporting the Evergreen High School Education Foundation by donating HERE.

The EHSEF will be seeking new board members for the 2019/2020 school year! If interested, please contact EHSF Board President Dan O’Neil at [email protected] or 303-332-8170.
