Spring Testing

When taking the Colorado school day SAT this spring (April 9, 2019), 11th grade students will have the option of taking the SAT with or without the optional essay.  Adding the essay to their SAT registration is a student choice.  The default registration for all students is the SAT without essay.  Students who wish to take the optional essay must register for it in advance; bulk registration for the SAT essay is not available.

The essay registration window is Jan. 15-Feb. 12, 2019.  This will be the only opportunity for students who wish to take the optional essay to add it to their April school day test registration.  Students may add the essay to their registration through their online College Board account or by calling the College Board.  We will also be visiting 11th grade English classrooms to assist students in the process.  Schools will not receive extra essay materials for test day changes, therefore, please be sure students register during the window.

Additional Information:

  • The SAT Essay is scored separately from the SAT.A student’s score on the essay will not improve or reduce their score on the SAT.
  • The essay may be required by some colleges and universities. To find out a particular school’s essay policies go to:https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/college-essay-policies
  • If students apply to a college that wants the essay and the student has not taken it, they will have to take the entire test over.It is not possible to just take the essay portion.
  • The optional essay is only offered as part of the 11th grade SAT.  There is no essay option for the PSAT 8/9 for 9th graders or the PSAT 10 for 10th graders.
  • Flyer for students on how to register for the optional SAT Essay is posted on the CollegeBoard.org/Colorado website under the For Students and Parents section.
  • The SAT with Essay will take approximately one hour longer than the SAT.
  • For more information about the SAT Essay, visit sat.org/COessay.

Message from your Athletic and Activities Director

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone was able to relax and enjoy their time off.  We are off to the races this semester, as we are well into our winter season, and we have a lot of accomplishments to be proud of (see sports results section below).  Between our basketball, wrestling, swimming, and skiing programs, we are excited about the success and great sportsmanship we are seeing out on our courts, mats, swimming pools, and ski areas.  Evergreen athletics has always been competitive and we will continue to be competitive, through a community effort!  We will continue to innovate and look closely at our programming to ensure that we are staying competitive, exhibiting our values of integrity, hard work, and kindness!  We are also well into our indoor percussion season and upcoming events include our Mountain area orchestra festival on 2/5 at EMS in the gym and our Mountain area band festival on 2/7 at EHS in the gymnasium.  Also, our performing arts department is hard at work on their musical rehearsals, with our musical dates set for March 14th-March 16th

I’m happy to announce the first ever Athletics Strategic Planning Committee.  This committee will meet 1x/month and will be comprised of coach, student, and parent representation.  At the heart of this work is a mission to create a strategic plan that will inform our efforts in the coming years.  I’m looking for representatives to commit some time to this effort, in hopes of increasing our impact and effectiveness in our athletic programming.  Please come see me or give me a call if you are interested in this committee work.  I am more than happy to meet with you in person or you can reach me at (303) 982-0489.

I look forward to a great second semester, and as always, my door is always open!

With respect and gratitude,

Christian Ramaker

Athletic and Activities Director

New Athletic Trainer Joins EHS!  We are fortunate to welcome Mr. Nathan Brickbealer to our Evergreen Community!

Greetings!  My name is Nathan Brickbealer and I am the new Athletic Trainer. I was born in Colorado Springs and have lived there most of my life. I love the outdoors as most Coloradoans do; some of the activities I enjoy the most include skiing, running, hiking, and playing soccer. I also enjoy traveling and seeing unfamiliar places. I just recently moved back to Colorado after living and working in Orlando, FL at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort. As an Athletic Trainer it is my goal to excel at everything I do to hopefully have the biggest impact on those I interact with. I am very passionate about not only athletic training, but the health care field in general. I take time to build relationships with everyone I interact with so that we form a bond that eventually I can be entrusted with every aspect of life to most effectively help them. I am also very passionate about the educational aspect of health care and helping patients gain knowledge to set them up for success in every aspect of their lifestyle, outside and past the sports world. It is my goal here at Evergreen to build long lasting relationships beyond athletics and education. If I can accomplish one thing, it would be that everyone knows that I truly care about them, not just regarding athletic health, but encompassing all their lives here at Evergreen and beyond. It is of utmost importance to me to impact health care in the United States in a positive way to help change the culture within this country and beyond, into the world.
