Hello Cougar Families and Happy Sunday,

Your input and feedback as our school community is so vitally important as part of our continuous efforts to provide excellence in education. Below you will find a link for the annual Family and School Partnership survey, an excellent opportunity for providing input on a range of issues that impact your child on a daily basis; from school climate and culture to parent relations and communication, this survey provides Evergreen High School with incredibly valuable data to inform and inspire our work here.

Please consider taking a few minutes out of your day before 12/14 to complete the survey.

Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend!

Brandon Brekke and EHS School Leadership

Family-School Partnership survey

The Family-School Partnership (FSP) survey is currently open!  This survey offers an opportunity for parents to provide feedback on our schools’ communication, collaboration, and support for student learning. It closes next Friday, December 14.  The survey was sent directly to all families via SchoolMessenger by Communication Services.  Click HERE to be taken to the survey now.  We would love to hear your feedback.  Let us know how we are doing!

School Start Time Task Force

The School Start Time Task Force has been meeting since last spring, analyzing the research around school start times and its effect on students, especially in middle and high school. The Task Force will be issuing a parent survey for all parents in Jeffco, beginning Friday, November 16 and ending Sunday, December 2.  The Task Force will then use this information to make recommendations to Dr. Glass and members of the Cabinet in January.  Check out the Jeffco School Start Time webpage for more information.

Hour of Code

Hour of Code

Our students are changing the future with an Hour of Code!

We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.

But only a tiny fraction of us are learning how technology works. Only 35% of all high schools teach computer science. EHS now offers a class, but we want everyone to know at least a little something about this important skill.

That’s why our school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (December 3-9). More than 100 million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code. Our Hour of Code is making a statement that Evergreen High School is ready to teach these foundational 21st-century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code event available to most of our 9th and 10th grade students (and some other grades) through their science classes. This is a chance to change the future of education in Evergreen, Colorado.

See http://hourofcode.com/us for details, and help spread the word.

Girls Lead the Way Leadership Conference

Join EHS Key Club on December 14th at 7pm in the EHS Auditorium for a screening of Bending the Arc! Bending the Arc is a documentary about a team of young people—Paul Farmer, Jim Yong Kim, Ophelia Dahl—whose charitable medical work, 30 years ago, ignited a global health movement. Their goal was simple but daring: to make high quality health care available to everyone, even in the world’s poorest countries. Fighting entrenched diseases, political and bureaucratic machinery, and the existing charity and medical establishments, these crusaders took their fight from the village to the world stage, to ensure that health care is a right for all, and that geography should not determine destiny.

Bending the Arc chronicles their journey as they started Partners in Health, an organization the works to bring modern medicine to under-served communities across the globe. $5 donation is suggested; all money raised goes to Partners in Health.

Athletics
Cougar Claw

I want to thank each coach/advisor/sponsor/teacher, student, parent volunteer and supporter, our incredible boosters, facilities, Ms. Krupka, and everyone else that made our fall season a success!  We have engaged in some great work and will continue to refine our practices and approaches to ensure a positive culture and climate in our athletics and activities programming.  Excellence is defined in many ways, but the outward signs of excellence are clearly the smiles and laughter that we see on our students faces when they practice, compete, perform, and succeed in their individual and team endeavors.  I’m proud to be the athletic and activities director at EHS and I’m looking forward to a wonderful holiday and winter season.  Please know that my door is always open and I look forward to our continued collaboration.

GO COUGARS!!!
Christian Ramaker
