Hello Cougar Families and Happy Sunday,

We are excited to announce a community-wide vote for a brand new Evergreen High School official logo! It is time to retire the current logo and re-brand the Cougar to represent the dynamic, proud school community that we are.

Voting will remain open for one week, through 3:00 PM next Friday, 9/13.

Considerations:
  • Voting is open to EHS students, parents and staff.  One person - One vote!
  • Before you cast your vote, consider that the new official EHS school logo will be used in many different ways.
  • This will include printing and digital usage, and the application of the new logo for spirit wear, jerseys, and other sports/activities apparel.
  • Take your time and choose wisely.
Thank you for your participation and we are excited to see which logo wins!  Click HERE to be taken to voting!

MAP Testing and Test Fest

Testing

MAP GROWTH TESTING:  This week, students enrolled in English 9, English 10, Analytic Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry will continue with make-up MAP Growth testing.  If students were unable to finish, or missed their testing last week, they will receive a slip calling them down to the Main Office throughout the day.

MAP Growth tests are administered at the beginning, middle and end of each year. These tests serve as one of many data points in measuring student progress. For additional information on the MAP Growth test, please click HERE

Start Planning for TEST FEST on Wednesday, October 16.

For many years, EHS has used the October National PSAT/NMSQT testing date to administer multiple tests.  EHS calls this day TEST FEST.  Students will be taking the 9th, 10th, and 11th grade PSAT tests on Wed., Oct. 16.  All of these tests are used to identify college readiness, and we use the results in our academic counseling process to help determine proper academic placement in classes.  The National Merit Scholarship is awarded to a small amount of students every year to help them fund their college experience.  In fact, the PSAT is sometimes referred to as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT).  Three benefits of taking the PSAT are—

  1. Since the junior year is the only year that students can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship, they might want to give it a practice shot during the sophomore year.
  2. It helps students connect with colleges.
  3. It better prepares students to take the SAT.

The exam fee is $12 for the PSAT 9/10 and $17 for the PSAT/NMSQT.  Test registration closed at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  Students are considered registered if the OPTIONAL fee was paid.

Please take note that only students testing attend school on October 16.  Parents do not need to call the attendance line.  Buses will run on a normal schedule.

ON TEST DAY:

  • Students need to arrive by 7:25 a.m. with a calculator and #2 pencils.
  • Freshmen students will be done at approximately 10:45 a.m.Sophomores and juniors will finish at approximately 11:30 a.m.(Students with accommodations will finish at various times.)

As a reminder, all students will take a free PSAT or SAT in the spring as part of our state mandated testing.

Please contact Dr. Artes at [email protected] or (303) 982-5126 with any questions.

mtn bike magazine

The Evergreen High School Mountain Bike Team is celebrating 10 years of racing as well as some pretty impressive growth. The team started with about 6 riders and currently has nearly 60! Last season was a banner year, with the team placing 2nd or 3rd for each race of  the regular season and qualifying 13 racers for State. The Cougars finished 4th at the first race of the 2019 season and fielded the largest team in the South Conference. We are also the featured team in the October, 2019 edition of Mountain Bike Action, which is a huge honor and reflective of the hard work of all the athletes, coaches, parents, and community. The Cougars race this Sunday at the Leadville campus of Colorado Mountain College, so if you're in the vicinity, come out and cheer on the team!
