AP Human Geography Exam

AP human geography
Dear Parents of students taking the AP Human Geography exam,

The AP Human Geography exam will be given on Tues, May 14 from 11:30 -2:50.  There will be NO late busses.  Thus, they will need to be picked up at school at approximately 3:00 PM.  Please make arrangements for your child to get a ride home.

Summer Assignments for the 2019-2020 school year are available on the EHS website. Academics>AP/Honors Information. 

If you are enrolled in an AP or Honors course, it is your responsibility to check the website of each of the advanced subjects in which you are enrolled. Teachers have given specific information on course expectations, fees, materials and summer assignments. Now is the time to check those websites so that you know what will be expected of you in the future.

May is Healthy Activities month through Sources of Strength! We have some exciting events planned for EHS, starting with a Spirit Week:

Monday, April 29th is Sports Team Day- Wear your favorite team's jersey or gear
Tuesday, April 30th is Dress Like a Tourist or Hiker Day
Wednesday, May 1st is Wear Your Favorite Band/Concert Shirt Day
Thursday, May 2nd is Crazy Hat Day- This is in honor of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4th
Friday, May 3rd is Wear Your Beach Gear- Please be dress code appropriate

Let's have fun together and participate in our Sources of Strength Spirit Week! Look out for more announcements on what we have planned during lunches for May 1st, 8th, and 15th.

The Jeffco Public Schools Board of Education will be hosting a lunch dialogue with the Jefferson County Commissioners in the library at EHS. District and county leadership will engage with principals from the Evergreen, Conifer, Dakota Ridge, Columbine and Chatfield areas. Discussion will cover what’s going on in Jeffco schools and any county issues that may be of interest to our school communities. This study session/community engagement is open to the public.  Please feel free to join us.

Remember to drop off your completed Senior Memory Boards in the office before May 1st. We still have blank boards available for pick up as well. They will be displayed in the halls of EHS the week of May 3rd and then taken to the senior lunch after graduation practice.   Please contact Betsy Hays at 303-619-8317 or [email protected] with any questions.


Senior Scholarships:  

Each year EHS proudly recognizes the outstanding academic achievements of our graduating seniors by collecting scholarship award offer letters. Both accepted and declined. The monetary total is presented at both Senior Academic Awards Ceremony and Graduation.

Please have your senior submit ALL scholarship award offer letters that come from a prospective school to Michelle Yeager no later than Monday, April 29, at 2:30pm. Please indicate clearly whether the offer is accepted or declined. Accepted scholarships will be printed in the Senior Academic Awards Program.  

Senior Sunrise:
Senior Sunrise will be the morning of Graduation Rehearsal on May 14th.  Join your class at Red Rocks to watch the sunrise before you come back up to Evergreen High School for Graduation Rehearsal at 8:30am.

LEANIN.TEAM is now offering a resiliency workshop for high school students on the 4th Thursday of every month.  The primary focus will be on cultivating resilience & self-compassion, students will be engaged in important discussions surrounding these topics and will develop skills to help them through high school, college and beyond! EVERGREEN HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION – NEWS AND UPDATES           

As our faculty prepares for Jeffco’s initiative to provide devices for all students (likely to be touchscreen Chromebooks), the Foundation will be instrumental in helping to provide resources and funding for training and professional development. The EHS Technology Committee will be developing ideas and opportunities for training, to be presented at the next Board meeting.

The next Board meeting will be held on May 13th at 7:30AM, in the EHS main office conference room.  

The EHSEF will be seeking new board members for the 2019/2020 school year! If interested, please contact EHSF Board President Dan O’Neil at [email protected] or 303-332-8170.

We would love to get the students involved in Teacher Appreciation Week as well.  Thursday (May 9) will be "Thankful Thursday". We are encouraging students to write a quick note to teachers that have helped them along the way and deliver it to them throughout the day on May 9th.

Weekly Sport Highlights


Baseball lost 2 tough games against Wheat Ridge, the number 1 team in Jeffco 4a.

Thursday’s game was especially a heartbreaker. The boys came up short but fought until the end. They were losing 11 - 4 going into the last inning. The team rallied and scored 6 runs in the 7th.  Aiden Smith’s grand slam brought the score to 11-10. So close! Keep battling boys.


Girls Soccer beat Golden 4-1 on Tuesday. They had a big game on Wednesday facing off against favorite D’Evelyn. There was an intense Championship atmosphere ending in a 1-1 tie which puts EHS in the top spot in the conference. If we beat Littleton on Monday then EHS Girls Soccer will be Jeffco Champs! Hope to see lots of friends, family and fans at Senior Night - 7pm home game on Thursday 5/2

 


Girls Golf- Evergreen Girls Golf competed in the Jeffco 4A/5A League tournament on Tues, Apr 23 held at West Woods Golf Course in Arvada.  Conditions were challenging on a long demanding course, with a cold morning first nine holes! Nonetheless, the Cougars prevailed again, winning the 4A Tournament by a narrow two strokes over Golden HS!  Littleton placed third, 24 strokes behind the Evergreen girls. Kate Lisle, Riley Roberts and Laney Urbas placed tightly grouped at 4th, 5th, and 6th in the tournament. Rachel Malpass finished at #21, contributing to the EHS Girls team win.


EHS Varsity Girls remain in first place in the Jeffco 4A League, and have continued to widen their margin over the 2nd place Golden HS Girls to 35 strokes with just one League match remaining, the Ashley Forey Invitational at Rolling Hills next Monday, April 29.

Boys Lacrosse had a big Mountain Bowl WIN against Conifer last Friday night. Way to go boys!  Conference games this week - Green Mountain on Wed and Golden on Friday. Look to the EHS Athletic website for results.


Girls Lacrosse lost a close one (12-10) on Monday to Denver East who are ranked third in the state. The Mountain Bowl trophy will be staying at EHS another year as the girls had a Big win vs Conifer (12-7) Thursday night.


Girls Tennis - recent results include a huge win for #1 Singles player

Zoe Love over D’Evelyn on Tues 4/23 and a team win for Varsity on Wednesday at home beating Wheat Ridge 6-1.


Track had great results at the competitive Ridgeview invite on Thursday.The Girls team came in 2nd place and Boys ended up in 4th.

Announcements

Last week’s National letter of Intent signing ceremony celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of the following EHS athletes. Congratulations to Jina Alvis who will be playing Soccer at Johnson and Wales, Baseball players Bryce Pearson and Paul Schreffler who signed with Garden City and Trinity University, and Swimmer Maggie MacDonald who has been selected to attend US Army Academy West Point.
